Bulimia, full name bulimia nervosa, is an eating disorder and psychological condition in which the subject engages in recurrent binge eating followed by intentional purging. This purging is done in order to compensate for the excessive intake of food, usually to prevent weight gain.

Binge eating disorder is an eating disorder and psychological condition in which a subject periodically does not exercise control over consumption of food and eats an unusually large amount of food at one time -- more than a normal person would eat in the same amount of time. People with binge eating disorder eats much more quickly during binge episodes than during normal eating episodes and eats until physically uncomfortable. Sometimes, they eat large amounts of food even when they are not really hungry. They usually eat alone during binge eating episodes, in order to avoid discovery of the disorder, and often feel despressed and embarassed about their lack of eating control.
